Process Group and Middlesbrough College teams outside TTE

Process Group has reinforced its commitment to Teesside’s future skills by supporting Middlesbrough College’s TTE centre - a technical training facility designed to equip the next generation of engineers and skilled professionals - with specialist engineering expertise to enhance and recommission a key teaching plant used in process operations training.

The Middlesbrough‑based engineering firm has been working closely with the College to improve the reliability and teaching performance of its 3 Phase Separator training skid and EPAU water plant. These systems play a vital role in preparing local learners for careers in engineering, energy and manufacturing.

The collaboration forms part of Process Group’s wider commitment to investing in the community, supporting young people, and helping build a strong skills pipeline for Teesside’s industrial future. Ensuring students have access to safe, modern and industry‑aligned facilities is essential in giving them the confidence and hands‑on experience needed to progress into rewarding careers.

Working alongside the College’s Vocational Lecturers, Process Group has delivered recommissioning work, PLC upgrades, loop checks and documentation improvements. The team is also providing ongoing consultancy and a call‑off support arrangement to ensure fast response times during busy teaching periods.

These improvements have stabilised the teaching equipment, strengthened maintainability and created a more dependable learning environment, all part of helping the College deliver high‑quality practical training for learners across the region.

“Investing in the future of our community”

Process Group’s Managing Director, Robert Wilson, said the project represented more than just an engineering task.

“As a Teesside business, we’re passionate about supporting the future of our industry and the young people who will one day lead it,” he said. “Middlesbrough College plays a huge role in shaping the region’s talent, and being able to contribute to that by strengthening their training facilities is something we’re incredibly proud of. Supporting our community isn’t an initiative for us, it’s embedded in who we are.”

A boost for teaching quality and student experience

John Cooke, Associate Director of TTE praised the partnership “Process Group have been fantastic, supporting both our curriculum and the commissioning of our training plants. We’ve worked closely with them to stay up to date with the latest industry developments, ensuring our training remains constantly aligned with industry standards and expectations. Their expertise and knowledge have been invaluable, providing exceptional support to TTE.

“As we continue to develop our facilities, we look forward to working even more closely with Process Group, leveraging their skills and experience to remain at the forefront of industry practice.”

Strengthening Teesside’s skills landscape

The project has delivered several benefits for the College and its students, including:

  • Improved reliability and performance of key teaching assets

  • Better documentation and long‑term maintainability

  • A rapid‑response support mechanism during busy teaching periods

  • A more realistic, industry-aligned learning environment

With Teesside’s engineering, process and energy sectors continuing to evolve, supporting local training providers is a crucial part of ensuring the region remains strong, competitive and full of opportunity for young people.
